12.11.22 // Fermenting Vegetables w/ Olivia Ramos // 12-3 p
Fermenting vegetables is a fun and delicious way to increase digestibility and nutrition of vegetables while preserving the garden’s harvest for later enjoyment! Join Olivia Ramos of Soil Shine Farm & Ferments to learn the ins and outs of fermenting your own vegetables. The class will be demonstrative and hands-on as we make a batch of sauerkraut together. Participants will leave with a quart of ready-to-brew sauerkraut. There will be Soil Shine Farm & Ferments products and fermenting tools for sale.
About Olivia:
Olivia has been a fan of fermentation in various forms since college, when she had access to endless vegetables from her college’s farm and couldn’t eat any more salads. For her, fermentation and gardening have always gone hand in hand as ways to improve your health and that of the land. She and her husband Rocky founded Soil Shine Farm & Ferments, a small farm and fermenting business located in Celo, NC, in 2019. They sell a wide variety of homegrown, organic fermented products at the Yancey County Farmers Market and many small stores in Yancey, Mitchell, and Watauga County. Follow @soilshinefarm on Facebook and Instagram for updates from the garden and kitchen.
