Cordials were popular medicinals used to invigorate and revitalize the heart, body and spirit, as well as cure disease. Today cordials are enjoyed as sleep aids, tonics, to support the heart, beat the summer heat, and for tasting pleasure. Come learn, create, and sample an array of tasty, tonic, traditional and more modern versions of these delicious and sweet syrups and elixirs. You will leave with recipes, a cordial, wisdom and your own inspiration for some summertime cordials to be enjoyed on their own or mixed into other beverages.

$25-50 per person, includes a cordial

Jamie Sparks is the Founder and Director of Herban Farmacy, Asheville's first Community Supported Herbalism (herbal CSA) and small locally grown and wildcrafted herbal apothecary. Jamie is also a herbally focused massage therapist emphasizing topical supports for the body. Jamie teaches programs to adults and children at herb schools, massage schools, public schools, and various earth skills gatherings in the southeastern part of the country. She has also volunteered her time as an herbalist at the Ithaca Free Clinic and offered first aid and medical support at many events. When not wildcrafting and concocting herbal delights she can be found creating anything from baskets, to fiber to silversmithing.
