Do you want to have the healthiest & happiest chickens on the block? Frances Tacy, of Franny's Farm, will let you in on all the details, share stories and provide handouts. All the most important basics of health & husbandry will be addressed including feed & foraging, housing requirements, disease, predators, anatomy, if and when to worm, and what to have in your first aid kit. There will be open dialogue about the issues people face raising poultry and discussion on what to do if you end up with a rooster. For those brooding chicks, there will be an extra handout on how to successfully track and time chicks to pullets on pasture. Franny loves to bust myths and you are sure to walk away a more knowledgeable keeper of chickens.

$10-20 per person, sliding scale.  Additional $5 fee to register at the door.

Frances Tacy of Franny's Farm has been breeding, incubating, hatching, processing and raising heritage Barred Plymouth Rock chickens for meat and eggs. She is ever-involved in poultry research studies, teaching and has led the Organic Growers School Poultry Track for the last two years. She is passionate about animal husbandry, poultry health and promoting backyard chicks for every household.
