Finding a good night’s rest can be hard for a lot of us. Whether it’s a hard time falling asleep or difficulty staying asleep, herbal remedies can help. Many people are helped by “sleep hygiene” to create a more restful bedroom environment, so in addition to herbs and supplements, we’ll discuss specific helpful habits. Chronic insomnia can be particularly challenging, so we’ll borrow a page from Chinese medicine and look at herbs to nourish and restore the nervous system. Whether it’s an occasional restless night or a long-term issue, herbs can help.

CoreyPine Shane, RH (AHG), is Director of the Blue Ridge School of Herbal Medicine in Asheville, NC, and has spent well over 20 years helping clients by artfully blending Chinese and Western herbal traditions with a focus on local plants. As a seasoned wildcrafter he has extensive knowledge of wild plants as well as medicine making. He is the author of the e-book, “Herbs for Pain,” has taught at many national herb conferences, and is a registered member of the American Herbalists Guild. CoreyPine believes that laughter is an essential part of any medicine chest, which is why he is a part of the “Wise Guy” school of healing.
