Composting recycles food waste into a nutritious soil amendment that can restore depleted soils and stimulate healthy plant growth. Learn about the principles behind composting and how to get started in your own backyard or even inside your home! The topics include:

- Compost Bin Location and Construction
- Ingredients for Successful Composting
- Cold and Hot Backyard Composting
- Dos and Don'ts of Composting
- Composting with Earthworms (Vermicomposting)

Participants will leave with backyard composting and vermicomposting resources.

This class is FREE but pre-registration is required, as we have limited capacity. 

Asheville GreenWorks is an environmental non-profit based out of Asheville. Their goal is to inspire, equip, and mobilize communities to care of the places they love to live. John Connelly serves with Asheville GreenWorks as an AmeriCorps Project Conserve Member. He recently graduated college with a degree in Environmental Engineering where he completed courses related to composting and microorganisms. John has been leading composting workshops for Asheville GreenWorks since December. He currently composts at home and he's excited to provide resources so residents can compost at home too
