On January 23, 2020, we will hold a Special Event at Villagers:
Wild crafted doughnuts and radical co-operation: mutual aid and climate resilience in WNC
This is a collaboration between: Co-operate WNC, Acornucopia, Kudzu Culture, Hole Doughnuts and Villagers
.
Come taste a vision for our regenerative future, and get involved in growing a regional network of hope, people power and cooperative living.
.
This conversation is mainly organized around the work of Co-operate WNC, a regional mutual aid initiative using cooperative economics and ecological design to support a network of community centers that act as organizing hubs for human needs and climate resilience. Zev Friedman from Co-operate WNC will introduce the vision and work of this movement so far, share different ways you can get involved this fall and winter, and facilitate a discussion based in the interests of participants.
.
If there is enough interest, this event might be the kickoff for a winter series of mutual aid gatherings at Villagers.
.
Meanwhile, we’ll each get to enjoy a delicious gluten-free doughnut made by Hole Doughnuts from locally wild harvested acorn flour processed by Acornucopia, coated in a medicinal and delicious kudzu root starch glaze sourced from Kudzu Culture. Nut trees and kudzu both offer major regenerative possibilities for our regional response to climate change, in terms of carbon sequestration and in terms of climate resilient food sources as weather events become more extreme and less predictable.
.
Justin Holt and Zev will describe how Acornucopia and Kudzu Culture’s models offer scalable, long-term regenerative land use and economic potential for our communities, and together we’ll make the connection for how Co-operate WNC’s cooperative economic approach can help finance, scale up and get more people involved in this work.
.
We’re designing this evening to be fun, informal and have plenty of time for the discussion to go where the group wants it, with an emphasis on how you can get more involved in cooperation and regenerative culture in your life and relationships.
.
Cost to attend is $15-20 sliding scale, including a delicious wild-crafted doughnut!
.
