In this class we will learn the art of making a simple naturally leavened bread, from weighing and mixing to shaping and baking, all with tools you can easily find in your kitchen. We also will learn a good deal about gluten development, the reasons for preshaping and folding, and other important ingredients that go into making a good bread. No experience necessary.

Sliding scale $75-85, includes materials,  and students take home a loaf of bread, and if they wish, sourdough starter!

Nathan Morrison of Simple Bread has been baking fine sourdough breads for the last 10 years, bringing nourishment and connection to the farmer's market community here in Asheville. He also loves to dance, and studied jazz piano in college as well as leading a community choir for a number of years in Asheville. You can find him at the local tailgate markets during the season, so come by and try some good bread!
