Due to the popularity and demand for this workshop, we are offering TWO WORKSHOP DATES- September 11th and September 18th! *please indicate your preferred date in the notes when booking*
Come learn and explore first-hand the ancient art of Cob Oven construction with cob lover + builder, Seany. Cob ovens are an inexpensive type of wood-fired oven. They can be used to make delicious pizza, bread, roasted veggies, baked beans, etc…. anything you can do in a conventional oven, but with more evenly-distributed heat, better flavor, and more opportunity to make baking into a fun event.
All participants will leave with a hands-on experience as well as the ability to build and use a Cob Oven of their own. This full immersion workshop will consist of creating and mixing Cob with our feet, as well as constructing the horizontal hearth which will cook our food. The Oven Dome will then be constructed with three layers, creating an insulative chamber known as the “thermal mass” which will reserve and release the heat responsible for cooking. Once built the Cob Oven will serve as beacon for the land, which will provide food in the way of breads, pastries, meats, dried fruit and herbs. We hope that you will join us on this this most special occasion.

About the Instructor:
Seany started his Earthen Building Apprenticeship in Oregon and has since been decorating our land with cob construction from coast to coast. We are lucky to have him in North Carolina! Seany not only loves building cob ovens but he also loves baking in them! Chef Seany is a master at creating wood fired pizzaz, breads, pies and just about anything. Bring your recipe ideas and ingredients and lets build and bake together!
