8.26.18 // How to Craft a Tintype Photograph with Rianne + Jonathan of Ancient Kind // 5:30-8:30pm

Join us in learning the technique & chemical process of crafting your own tintype & leave with an archival tintype portrait of yourself that will stand the test of time. We will go over the history of the process, what chemicals you need and where to find them, plus you will get a hands on opportunity to pour your own plate with our guidance and assistance. We will then use the plate you coated to take your tintype portrait. When we say "hands on" we mean literally -- your fingerprints will be on the edges. That's what makes these portraits so special -- they can't help but all be one of a kind. In a world of pixels and files, the tintype is truly keepin' it real.

$50, includes a portrait

Rianne & Jonathan are the founders & photographers behind Ancient Kind -- a tintype portrait studio that is soon to be mobile (bus renovation coming Fall of 2018) ! They both attended college in Chicago & worked in the film & photography industry for years. During this time, they met, formed a partnership & hatched a plan to get out of the city and into an environment that supported their longing for simplicity. They moved to Maggie Valley & are currently focused on shooting tintypes via pop-ups & festivals. You can check out their up-coming events via their "tour" page at www.ancientkind.com.
